Nearly a year after audio leaked of ESPN's Rachel Nichols, who is White, complaining she was replaced by Black colleague, Maria Taylor, as a "diversity play," the network is still struggling to manage the fallout.

In this episode of Per My Last Email, host Pam Jeffords tackles ESPN's DEI strategy failures with the help of Ball Corp's Vice President of Diversity & Inclusion and former college athlete, Charles "CJ" Johnson, along with HR Huddle co-host, Kim Seals.

Johnson says it's time for organizations to stop putting out crafty statements and covering up difficult situations,  and instead, be radically transparent about them.

Don't think your company could do the same?

Listen in for key takeaways on how you can:

  • Find the deeper truth within diversity-centered incidents
  • Harness extreme honesty to build a stronger culture
  • Own the narrative internally and externally
  • Understand why employees may bypass the HR process

Tune in part two of this conversation for strategies your HR department can implement to avoid becoming the next ESPN in HR, We Have A Problem.
